November 18, 2009: FIC hosted by Johnson C. Smith University, Charlotte, NC. The Global Village Education collaboration included an art exhibition, video showing, and lecture.

November 16-17, 2009: FIC at University of Alabama. This collaboration with Apwonjo, a student club that aims to raise awareness about issues in sub-Saharan Africa, included an art exhibition, classroom lectures, and video showings.

November 13-14, 2009: FIC at Trivecca Nazarene University, Nashville, TN, with International Justice Mission & Alex Mejias.

November 11, 2009: Model UN, Cleveland, Ohio. Founder Andrew Briggs delivered a lecture: “Identify the War Of Your Generation” and shared about the founding of FIC.

November 10, 2009: FIC Global Village Education collaboration with Hathaway Brown School for Girls, Shaker Heights, Ohio.

October 30, 2009: “Africa Day” FIC mini-exhibit and address at Lorien Wood Elementary School in Vienna, Va.

October 27, 2009: FIC lecture at James Madison University, Harrisonburg, Va.

October 21, 2009: FIC resumed a Global Village Education collaboration with The Haverford School for Boys in Haverford, PA. This event included an art exhibition featuring a an art collaboration between the boys of Haverford and children of FIC Uganda, a lecture, and video showings.

September 30, 2009: FIC partnered with the Fetzer Institute, Campaign for Love & Forgiveness and Queen’s University, Charlotte, NC. The collaboration included an art exhibition, keynote address by Andrew Briggs, and a classroom lecture.

September 23, 2009: FIC was hosted at a private benefit in partnership with the English Speaking Union (ESU).

September 23, 2009: FIC was hosted by Old South Church in Kirtland, Ohio. The event included an art exhibition, videos, and a lecture.

September 21, 2009: Global Village Education collaboration with Hathaway Brown School for Girls, Shaker Heights, Ohio.

June 12 – June 18, 2009: “The Freedom In Creation Tour” (http://www.fictour.org/), a series of musical performances throughout Kentucky and Virginia by musical artists Alex Mejias and Tim Be Told to benefit FIC.

April 22, 2009: Founder Andrew Briggs represented FIC at George Mason University lecturing in collaboration with Dr. Al Fuertes. The lecture was entitled “Empowerment in War-affected Northern Uganda.”

April 13-17, 2009: FIC exhibition and lecture at George Mason Social Justice Week.

February 18, 2009: FIC featured at the Amnesty International Club “Jamnesty”, at James Madison High School, Vienna, Va.

March 14th, 2009: FIC featured at the third annual Gifts For Gulu event co-hosted by Lynchburg College and FIC partner Sports Outreach Institute.

March-April, 2009: FIC featured at the Flynndog Gallery of Art, Burlington, Vermont.

January 9-13, 2009: Turks & Caicos. FIC was hosted by the Semester at Sea program (SAS) during an alumni voyage. Founder Andrew Briggs, an alumni of the program sponsored by University of Virginia, was a guest lecturer. FIC Vice President and Treasurer Joseph Boulier also delivered a speech.

December 9, 2008: FIC featured at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies with the Center for Strategic and International Studies and Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. This event was entitled “The Primacy of Water Development: Sustainability Through Community.”

September 27, 2008: Founder Andrew Briggs was invited to represent FIC at a benefit hosted by C’ville Coffee, Charlottesville, Va. The event was catered by C’ville Coffee and featured an art exhibition, video showing, and musical performances by singer/songwriter Alex Mejias.

September 25, 2008: FIC featured at “The Garage,” Charlottesville, Va., with guest musical performer Alex Mejias.

July 14th 2008: Falls Church, Va. FIC benefited in the third annual “Ugandathon,” a private benefit including musical performances, an FIC art exhibition, and the showing of the film “War Dance.”
